TDTU Hosts 9th International Conference on Finance and Economics (ICFE 2025)
HO CHI MINH CITY — Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) has successfully hosted the 9th International Conference on Finance and Economics (ICFE 2025) on September 23-24. This annual academic event was led by the Faculty of Accounting and co-organized with prestigious international partners, including Tomas Bata University in Zlín and VSB – Technical University of Ostrava (both from the Czech Republic), the University of West of England – Bristol (UK), and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).
With the theme “Innovating Business Analytics for a Sustainable Future,” this year's conference brought together leading discussions and research in business management, finance, accounting, and economics. The focus was on leveraging innovation for sustainable development in the digital and globalized era.
The opening ceremony, held at Hall 2A, was a formal affair attended by numerous international scholars, business leaders, policymakers, as well as TDTU faculty and students. The organizing committee underscored ICFE’s role in bridging knowledge, fostering research collaboration, and extending academic value beyond national borders.

Prof. Nguyen Huy Tam (Nottingham Business School, Nottingham Trent University, UK) presented on “Accounting for Future Sustainability,” exploring the role of accounting in shaping sustainable development.
Prof. Shahzad Uddin (Centre for Global Accountability and Development, University of Essex, UK) delivered a talk on “Accounting Scholarship and Epistemic Injustices: A View from the Majority World,” raising critical questions about intellectual equity in the field of accounting.
Prof. Evan Lau (University of Malaysia Sarawak, Malaysia) discussed “Data and Our Future,” emphasizing the importance of data and technology for the future of the finance and economics sectors.
In-depth Discussions and Diverse Perspectives
Beyond the main plenary sessions, ICFE 2025 featured four parallel sessions on the afternoon of September 23, showcasing dozens of in-depth reports. Topics ranged from green transition and corporate governance to data analysis models in the digital economy. Some of the notable papers presented included:

The conference also included a special workshop on “ESG for Vietnamese Businesses: From Principles to Practices,” providing a practical look at applying ESG principles to corporate governance in Vietnam.
