Summer Camp 2025 in Malaysia: An Academic, Cultural, and International Networking Journey for Accounting Students
From August 18 to 22, 2025, the Faculty of Accounting at Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) successfully organized a Summer Camp and academic exchange program at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM Johor, Malaysia). The program created opportunities for students to gain international learning experiences, engage in rich cultural exchanges, and strengthen collaborative ties between universities in the region.
On August 18, the delegation departed from Ho Chi Minh City for Kuala Lumpur, where they received a warm welcome from the host university. Shortly after arrival, the group visited several iconic landmarks in Malaysia’s capital, including Putrajaya, KLCC, and Merdeka Square. These activities offered students a broad introduction to Malaysia’s modern and multicultural identity. Later that afternoon, the delegation traveled to Segamat, where they were accommodated at UiTM Johor with well-prepared facilities to support both study and cultural interaction throughout the camp.
On August 19, faculty and students joined the International Guest Lecture on the theme of Global Learning. Faculty members from TDTU’s Faculty of Accounting shared insights on internationalization in higher education and highlighted the role of global learning for accounting and auditing students. In the afternoon, students participated in the International 3-Minute Market Review competition alongside peers from Malaysia and Indonesia. TDTU students Tran Thanh Dat and Hin Dat Hue excelled in the contest and advanced to the final round, showcasing their strong language skills and analytical thinking.
On August 20, the group engaged in a community service program at Kampung Parit Penghulu Sungai Rambai, Malacca. Students learned about local agricultural practices, tried Batik painting, took part in traditional games, and discovered how to prepare local dishes. In the afternoon, they toured the heritage city of Malacca, with its blend of Portuguese, Dutch, and British architectural legacies alongside a vibrant modern lifestyle. This provided students with a unique perspective on cultural diversity within the region.
On August 21, the final round of the 3-Minute Market Review took place, where TDTU students impressed audiences with their confidence and fluent English presentations. During the closing ceremony, the Faculty of Accounting received a certificate of participation and presented souvenirs to UiTM Johor as a gesture of appreciation and a commitment to long-term collaboration. That afternoon, the delegation held office al meetings with UiTM Johor and Perbanas Institute (Indonesia) to discuss future cooperation in areas such as student and faculty exchanges, summer camps, international conferences, and internship programs.
On August 22, the group visited Beryl’s Chocolate Factory in Kuala Lumpur. Students explored the production process, brand development strategies, and the company’s international market expansion model. In the afternoon, the delegation returned to Ho Chi Minh City, concluding the Summer Camp 2025 with meaningful academic and cultural experiences.
The trip successfully achieved its objectives: affirming students’ language proficiency and academic competence, broadening international cooperation opportunities, and promoting the image of TDTU students as dynamic, disciplined, and globally engaged. Summer Camp 2025 was truly a remarkable journey, inspiring the next generation of accounting students to pursue international integration and global aspirations.
