Seminar: “Scientific research in the fields of Accounting & Economics at the Age of Fourth Industrial Revolution”

On July 29, 2021, the Faculty of Accounting - Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) held a scientific research conference. The seminar took place with the participation of many experts, PhD candidates, lecturers from domestic as well international universities (UK, Malaysia, Taiwan, India, Indonesia, etc.)

With the theme of scientific research in the field of Accounting & Economics in the era of technology revolution 4.0, the seminar was organized to provide a discussion platform on micro and macro issues relating to opportunities and challenges of the industrial revolution 4.0 from the perspective of the impact of intellectual capital as well as the impact of industrial revolution 4.0 on the supply chain amid covid-19 pandemic.

In addition, the seminar also discussed topic assessing business performance and sustainability in the digital era. More specifically, the seminar also focused on discussing the topic of innovation in the fields of Accounting and Finance, one of in the most significant fields in the coming time.

Opening the Seminar, Dr. Le Thi My Hanh – Dean, Faculty of Accounting delivered the opening speech and welcomed experts, guests as well as lecturers, Ph.D candidates, alumni and students.

Prof. Vikas Kumar emphasizes on urgent issues due to the significant impact of the global supply chain when the world economy is experiencing disruptions from the Covid-19 pandemic. Furthermore, the development role of technology 4.0 becomes more important than ever to create motivations and solutions in the context of the ongoing global crisis. More specifically, the author emphasizes that an understanding of this breakthrough technology and its application to operations in the global supply chain becomes essential in the context of the ongoing Corona virus pandemic and in the future

Session 02: “Exploring the Opportunities and Challenges of Industry Revolution 4.0 from Intellectual Capital Perspective” conducted by Assoc. Prof. Irene Wei Kiong Ting_ Associate Professor of Finance at Faculty of Industrial Management, Director of Career Placement and Development Centre at Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP), Malaysia.

The author shows the influence of technology on many specific fields such as politics, society, technology application, business environment as well as information security policies. The author analyzes the urgency for each area, specifically, for the management agencies of companies to be able to enhance their competitiveness on a global scale with the most advanced technologies in providing services. The application of technology development and innovation will help businesses reduce costs, minimize the loss of uncertain material costs such as labor resources, costs in the supply chain, ... .

Session 03 “Business Efficiency and Sustainability in the era of IR 4.0” conducted by Prof. Hooy Chee Wooi

The issue raising in this topic includes challenges and opportunities of the global 4.0 technology development, how the implementation of such technologies would help solve the challenges in the macro and micro environment. For a comprehensive national strategy, it is necessary to focus on policy issues and clearly coordinate on how to implement and apply 4.0 technology in each industry field. For infrastructure and ecosystems, paying attention to the supply of energy and telecommunications systems and focus on how the application of this technology in the implementation process will affect the ecosystem on a large scale.

Besides, the seminar also included contributions and exchanges between experts and attendees in order to share valuable information that is useful in the scope for future researchers on similar topics.  The discussion also helps managers to have a way of seeing and assessing current internal resources as well as future challenges and opportunities in order to have specific strategies advancing their management role.
