Workshop: The Research Tool in Accounting – A Guide to Using Stata Software in Research

On November 27, 2017, at the 6th-floor meeting room of the library, the Faculty of Accounting had the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Kweh and Dr. Irene to conduct a workshop and exchange knowledge with the faculty members about STATA – a statistical software used for data analysis, aimed at supporting lecturers in their learning, teaching, and research activities.

The workshop began in a friendly and cheerful atmosphere, as the faculty members briefly introduced themselves and expressed their delight in welcoming the two guest speakers to Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU). In response, Dr. Kweh and Dr. Irene thanked the Faculty of Accounting and TDTU for organizing the workshop and expressed their hope that the university would continue to grow and achieve greater success in the future.

Following the introductions, Dr. Kweh presented the main content of the session and introduced the STATA software. He provided an overview of the program, highlighting its advantages and sharing important notes for effective use. He also posed several related questions and addressed the participants’ inquiries about using the new software. Alongside his presentation, Dr. Irene supported the lecturers in installing, opening, and using STATA. Together, they demonstrated the software’s key features and functions in a clear, detailed, and practical manner, enabling the lecturers to engage hands-on with the program efficiently and confidently.

The workshop was lively and engaging. The faculty members of the Accounting Department actively raised questions to the guest speakers, seeking clarification on various research and technical issues. Both Dr. Kweh and Dr. Irene patiently answered each question, providing helpful solutions and making the process of using STATA more accessible and convenient for the participants.
