Ton Duc Thang University: Breakthroughs in Science, Technology, and Innovation Development Policies

In alignment with Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation, and Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in education and training development, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) continues to affirm its pioneering role in advancing science, technology, and innovation (STI) activities.

With the vision of becoming a research-oriented university, TDTU has introduced a range of groundbreaking policies to foster scientific research and innovation, including: Flagship research funding programs of up to VND 1 billion per project, prioritizing high-quality international publications and patented research outcomes; Full scholarships for PhD and Postdoctoral programs to attract and nurture young researchers; Special incentives and recognition for faculty members with publications in top 1% journals and international collaborative projects; Talent recruitment policies for high-profile researchers based on academic rank, H-index, and citation impact; Establishment of nine interdisciplinary research groups and increased collaboration with top 500 universities worldwide through the appointment of Distinguished Visiting Professors.

During the 2024–2025 academic year, TDTU achieved remarkable scientific milestones:

  • Over 100 research papers published in top 1% international journals indexed in Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus.

  • Four TDTU scientists were recognized among the world’s top 1% most influential researchers in 2025, according to Stanford University and Elsevier.

  • The Journal of Information Technology and Telecommunications (JIT) achieved a CiteScore of 8.2, ranking in Q1 in Scopus.

  • Dr. Le Quoc Viet, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, was honored with the Vietnam Golden Globe Award 2025, while two outstanding students won the Vietnamese Female Student Award in Science and Technology 2025.

  • TDTU maintained its position among the Top 601–800 universities worldwide in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2025.
