Kick-off of the New Semester: Meeting – Inspiring – Shaping the Future

On the morning of August 11, 2025, the Faculty of Accounting at Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) held its Opening Faculty Meeting for Semester I of the Academic Year 2025–2026 in the 5th-floor Conference Room of the University Library. This annual event aims to strengthen faculty cohesion and mark the beginning of a new academic year filled with aspirations and developmental goals.

The meeting was conducted in a formal yet enthusiastic atmosphere, with the participation of the Faculty of Accounting’s leadership, representatives from the Testing and Quality Assurance Department, all lecturers teaching this semester, and administrative staff of the Faculty.

In her opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi My Hanh – Dean of the Faculty of Accounting emphasized the importance of the annual opening meeting as a moment for reflection on past achievements while setting strategic directions for the new academic journey. She expressed her expectations for the sense of responsibility, innovation in teaching methods, and the ability of each lecturer to inspire students:

1
“We do not only teach knowledge, but we also convey confidence and inspiration that help students stand stronger in both learning and life. Each lecturer is a builder of the future, with every lesson contributing to the formation of character and career for the younger generation.”

A key highlight of the meeting was the sharing of teaching plans, updates on training activities, and academic orientations for Semester I of Academic Year 2025–2026.

Representing the Testing and Quality Assurance Department, Mr. Bui Huu Toan provided detailed feedback on classroom observations – an important activity to enhance teaching quality. He stressed that class observation should not be seen merely as evaluation but as a valuable opportunity for peer learning and pedagogical development:

2
“We should view class observations as a space for professional exchange, where every lecturer is both a teacher and a learner. Constructive feedback will make each lesson more effective and student-centered.”

Additionally, Dr. Nguyen Duy Suu – Vice Dean of the Faculty introduced the 4+1 Dual Degree Program, a key feature of the Faculty’s training strategy. This program allows outstanding students to shorten their study time by completing their bachelor’s degree while simultaneously earning credits toward a master’s degree during their final year. According to Dr. Suu, this initiative equips TDTU students with stronger competitiveness, earlier access to advanced knowledge, and enhanced academic and career opportunities in a global environment.

The meeting also welcomed the active participation and candid sharing of lecturers, who contributed ideas on teaching innovation, the integration of technology in classrooms, and strategies to increase student engagement in experiential activities and scientific research.

Some lecturers proposed organizing more specialized academic seminars, enabling faculty members to exchange expertise while staying updated with emerging trends in accounting, auditing, and data analytics. Such initiatives ensure that teaching remains closely aligned with real-world practices, meeting workforce demands in the era of digital transformation.

With an open spirit and strong determination for innovation, the meeting reaffirmed the Faculty of Accounting’s development orientation: modern – international – practice-driven. From updating curricula and promoting creative pedagogy to expanding academic and international collaborations, all efforts are directed toward the shared goal of providing students with the best possible learning environment.

The meeting also underscored once again the crucial role of lecturers not only in teaching but also in mentoring, inspiring, and shaping the younger generation. The dedication, responsibility, and creativity of the Faculty’s teaching staff form the foundation for the Faculty of Accounting to further affirm its position within Vietnam’s higher education system.

In closing, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi My Hanh expressed heartfelt gratitude to all full-time and visiting lecturers for their continuous support and contributions. She conveyed her strong belief that the new semester would bring about new achievements, marking further progress in enhancing training quality and strengthening the academic reputation of TDTU:

“The success of the Faculty of Accounting is not only the result of strategic planning but also the product of the daily dedication and silent contributions of each lecturer. Together, we are building the future, and I believe that these efforts will bring lasting value to students and society.”

The Opening Faculty Meeting for Semester I, Academic Year 2025–2026, concluded in a warm and united atmosphere, ushering in a promising new journey. It marked not just the start of a semester, but the beginning of renewed trust, inspiration, and aspiration to shape the future.
