To foster academic spirit, enhance research capacity, and improve teaching quality, the Faculty of Accounting – Ton Duc Thang University has launched a comprehensive plan for Academic Activities and the Journal Club for the academic year 2024–2025, spanning from September 2024 to August 2025.
The Journal Club is a professional forum held monthly, focusing on the exchange and discussion of research papers published in ISI/Scopus journals. These sessions offer valuable opportunities for lecturers to share research methodologies, update global publication trends, and strengthen their academic writing skills. Many sessions are enriched by the participation of distinguished scholars and experts from both domestic and international institutions.
In parallel, the Academic Activities are organized monthly to exchange teaching-support tools, update course content, and share academic experiences. These sessions aim to promote innovation in pedagogy and inspire a culture of continuous learning across the faculty.
Both activities play a vital role in enhancing the professional connection among lecturers while affirming the Faculty’s commitment to building a dynamic academic environment, guided by the philosophy: “Research to teach better – Teach to research more effectively.” This initiative further strengthens the Faculty’s academic reputation within Ton Duc Thang University’s overall strategy for scholarly development.

In the academic year 2024–2025, the Faculty of Accounting – Ton Duc Thang University continues to make remarkable strides in creating a vibrant, globally connected academic environment through two flagship initiatives: the Journal Club and the Regular Academic Activities. These platforms are designed to enhance research competence, inspire scholarly exchange, and elevate the quality of both teaching and research among the Faculty’s members.
Journal Club – Bridging Global Knowledge and Applied Research
Held monthly, this year’s Journal Club features a wide range of cutting-edge research topics published in prestigious ISI/Scopus journals. Discussions span emerging themes such as ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance), business ethics, corporate governance, as well as advanced research methodologies including Bibliometric analysis, PLS-SEM, fuzzyQCA, and the integration of AI in research and education.
Alongside internal presenters, the Journal Club also welcomed international and domestic scholars, notably Professor Irene Wei Kiong Ting (Universiti Malaysia Pahang, Malaysia), Professor Hoang Thi Hong Van (MBS School of Business), and Dr. Phan Tan Luc (Thu Dau Mot University). Their participation created a multidimensional, interdisciplinary, and globally engaged academic space, offering faculty members, graduate students, and undergraduates direct exposure to contemporary research trends.
Academic Activities – Continuous Innovation for Effective Teaching
In tandem with research exchange, the Faculty’s internal academic sessions focus on applying technology in teaching, updating professional knowledge, and enhancing curriculum design. Highlighted topics include AI in education, tax policy updates for 2025, textbook development, the convergence between VAS and IFRS, and practical teaching experiences.
A particularly notable session on Teaching and Exam Preparation for the Accounting CFAB Course featured Ms. Ha Thi Ngoc Ha – Vice President of VACPA (Vietnam Association of Certified Public Accountants) and former Deputy Director of the Accounting and Auditing Policy Department, Ministry of Finance. Her participation provided invaluable insights into national accounting policy directions and professional standards, enriching the faculty’s teaching practices.
Affirming an Academic Identity of Excellence
These two interconnected initiatives have significantly strengthened the Faculty’s academic community by developing research and teaching expertise, fostering collaboration, and nurturing a culture of scholarly innovation.
With the guiding philosophy “Research to teach better – Teach to research deeper,” the Faculty of Accounting – Ton Duc Thang University continues to affirm its position as one of Vietnam’s leading institutions in accounting education and research, striving toward becoming a regional and international hub of academic excellence.
