ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES AND JOURNAL CLUB
PLAN TO ENHANCE ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES AND JOURNAL CLUB
In order to promote academic spirit, improve research capacity, and enhance teaching quality, the Faculty of Accounting – Ton Duc Thang University has implemented a plan to organize regular Academic Activities and Journal Club sessions throughout the academic year.
Journal Club is a professional activity held monthly, focusing on the discussion and exchange of ISI/Scopus scientific papers. It serves as an opportunity for lecturers to share research methods, update international publication trends, and strengthen academic writing skills. These sessions also feature the participation of domestic and international experts and scholars.
At the same time, Academic Activities are organized monthly to exchange teaching-supporting tools, update course content, and share academic experiences. These sessions aim to foster a spirit of learning and innovation in teaching methods across the Faculty.
Both activities not only enhance the professional connection among lecturers but also demonstrate the Faculty of Accounting’s commitment to building a dynamic academic environment. They embody the goal of “Research for better teaching – Teaching for more effective research,” affirming the Faculty role in the academic development strategy of Ton Duc Thang University.

RESULTS OF INNOVATIVE RESEARCH AND GLOBAL ACADEMIC INTEGRATION
In the academic year 2024–2025, the Faculty of Accounting – Ton Duc Thang University has continued to make significant strides in building a dynamic and internationally integrated academic environment through two core activities: the Journal Club and Regular Academic Seminars. These forums play a vital role in developing research capacity, fostering a spirit of learning, and enhancing the quality of both teaching and research among the Faculty’s lecturers.
Journal Club – A Bridge Between Global Knowledge and Applied Research
Held monthly, this year’s Journal Club has featured a wide range of current and in-depth research topics extracted from prestigious ISI/Scopus-indexed journals. Discussions have covered modern research directions such as ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance), business ethics, corporate governance, as well as advanced methodologies including bibliometric analysis, PLS-SEM, fuzzy QCA, and the application of AI in research.
In addition to internal presenters from the Faculty, the activity proudly welcomed distinguished domestic and international experts, notably Professor Irene Wei Kiong Ting (Universiti Malaysia Pahang, Malaysia), Professor Hoang Thi Hong Van (MBS School of Business), and Dr. Phan Tan Luc (Thu Dau Mot University). The participation of these international scholars created a multidimensional and integrative academic atmosphere, enabling lecturers, graduate students, and undergraduates to engage directly with global research trends.

Academic Seminars – Continuous Innovation for More Effective Teaching
Alongside research activities, the Faculty’s series of Academic Seminars have focused on the application of technology, the update of professional knowledge, and the enhancement of the training curriculum. Key topics included the use of AI in teaching and learning, updates on 2025 tax policies, the development of accounting textbooks, a comparison between VAS and IFRS, and various discussions related to professional practice.
A special highlight was the seminar on Teaching and Exam Preparation for the Accounting CFAB Course, featuring insights from Ms. Hà Thị Ngọc Hà, Vice President of the Vietnam Association of Certified Public Accountants (VACPA) and former Deputy Director of the Department of Accounting and Auditing Regulations, Ministry of Finance. Her presence provided lecturers with valuable practical perspectives and a deeper understanding of accounting and auditing policies, as well as career development trends in Vietnam’s accounting profession.

Affirming a Pioneering Academic Identity
These two parallel initiatives have not only enhanced the professional expertise, research capability, and teaching quality of the Faculty of Accounting’s lecturers but also reflected the Faculty’s strategic vision in building an internationally oriented academic community — a place where knowledge is shared, creativity is encouraged, and research collaboration is continuously expanded.
Guided by the philosophy “Research for better teaching – Teaching for deeper research” the Faculty of Accounting at Ton Duc Thang University is steadily affirming its position as a leading institution in accounting education and research in Vietnam, aiming to become an influential academic center in the region and beyond.
