Workshop “Game Theory in Accounting and Finance”
As part of the series of events under the International Conference on Financial Management and Economics 2023 (ICFME 2023) co-organized by the Faculty of Accounting and the Faculty of Finance and Banking from July 4 to July 5, 2023, the Faculty of Accounting successfully held the workshop “Game Theory in Accounting and Finance.” The event attracted nearly 130 lecturers and students from the Faculty of Accounting and the Faculty of Business Administration.
The keynote speaker of the workshop was Associate Professor Barna Bakó, Head of Research at the Institute of Economics, Corvinus University of Budapest, Hungary. He is a renowned expert in Behavioral Economics, Game Theory, and Industrial Organization.
The workshop provided participants with valuable insights into modern economic contexts, highlighting how game theory can be applied to strategic decision-making, analyzing optimal choices made by independent and competing agents in strategic settings. Associate Professor Bakó illustrated two engaging scenarios that helped students visualize rational decision-making in situations where players’ strategies and parameters are predetermined. Through these examples, students explored how individuals can choose different behaviors to maximize their outcomes while considering others’ potential strategies.
Additionally, the workshop strengthened students’ critical thinking skills, enabling them to form sound and precise perspectives when addressing complex issues.
