Ton Duc Thang University Ranks 73rd in Asia According to THE Asia University Rankings 2022
On June 1, 2022, Times Higher Education (THE) announced the results of the THE Asia University Rankings 2022. For the first time, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) appeared in this prestigious ranking, securing 73rd place, the highest position among the five Vietnamese universities included.
THE has conducted the Asia University Rankings since 2013, applying the same set of indicators as the THE World University Rankings, with adjusted weightings to better reflect the unique characteristics of Asian higher education institutions.
In 2022, a total of 616 universities from 31 Asian countries and territories were ranked. Saudi Arabia made a remarkable leap, with six universities in the Top 100, an increase of four institutions compared to 2021.
At the top of the ranking are Tsinghua University (1st) and Peking University (2nd) of China, followed by the National University of Singapore (3rd).
Vietnam has five universities listed in the 2022 rankings:
- Ton Duc Thang University – 73rd
- Duy Tan University – joint 91st
- Vietnam National University, Hanoi – 301–350
- Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City – 401–500
- Hanoi University of Science and Technology – 501+
Additionally, The University of Danang was listed as a “reporter,” indicating it submitted data but did not meet the criteria for ranking.
In September 2021, TDTU made its first appearance in the THE World University Rankings, placing in the Top 500 globally. Furthermore, in February 2022, THE ranked TDTU among the Top 100 young universities in the world (those under 50 years old).
