Chairman Of The Senate Of The Czech Republic Visits Ton Duc Thang University

On the afternoon of November 19, 2025, as part of an official visit to Vietnam, the delegation of the Senate of the Czech Republic led by Chairman Miloš Vystrčil visited and worked with Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU).

Accompanying the Chairman were senators, representatives of the Committee on Science–Education–Culture, the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and Security, as well as the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Vietnam. The visit to TDTU was one of the key activities of the delegation during this mission, taking place on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Czech Republic. It opened up new prospects for cooperation between the two countries in education and science–technology.

In his welcome remarks, Dr. Trần Trọng Đạo – President of TDTU – expressed his respect and gratitude for Chairman Miloš Vystrčil choosing TDTU as the destination to meet with faculty members and students. The event was even more meaningful as it coincided with the 43rd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers’ Day (20/11/1982–22/11/2025). He affirmed that TDTU will continue striving to advance joint training and research programs and expand its international cooperation network, especially with universities and educational institutions in the Czech Republic.

Based on this foundation, the two sides have effectively implemented various programs such as joint bachelor’s–master’s training, student and faculty exchanges, international semesters, sandwich-format PhD programs, co-hosting over 30 international conferences, and producing joint scientific publications. These outcomes have contributed to strengthening the strategic Vietnam–Czech partnership in education and research.

TDTU - a key hub for Vietnam-Czech educational cooperation

TDTU has been entrusted by the Ministry of Education and Training as the focal point for connecting the higher education network between Vietnam and the Czech Republic, as well as for developing bilateral educational cooperation programs.

The university is partnering with Czech institutions in several strategic fields, including artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing, UAV technology, mechanical engineering–automation, cybersecurity, and renewable energy.

Beyond training activities, the cooperation between the two sides also aims to develop high-quality human resources, build postgraduate programs, and promote specialized research. During the meeting, both parties agreed to continue expanding academic exchange programs, applied research collaboration, joint international conferences, and linkages with Czech businesses.

During the discussion session, the Chairman of the Senate spent time engaging with TDTU lecturers and students on opportunities for cooperation in education, research, and innovation. He also expressed his desire to expand more exchange programs between students of the two countries in the future.

As part of the program, the Chairman solemnly presented commemorative medals to two TDTU educators for their outstanding contributions to education–training and to promoting cooperation between the two nations. The honorees were Dr. Trần Trọng Đạo – President of TDTU, and Dr. Phan Đạo – Director of TDTU’s European Cooperation Center.

In his remarks, Chairman Miloš Vystrčil praised TDTU’s efforts in promoting academic exchanges, scientific research, and educational cooperation with Czech higher education institutions. He emphasized that TDTU is “one of the Vietnamese universities with the strongest and most effective cooperation with Czech partners,” contributing to deepening the long-standing friendship between the two countries.

The visit of Senate Chairman Miloš Vystrčil not only demonstrates the Czech government and people’s commitment to educational cooperation with Vietnam but also reaffirms TDTU’s prestige and position in international academic relations. It marks an important milestone, opening a new phase of comprehensive cooperation among universities, research institutes, and enterprises of both countries, and contributing positively to the internationalization of higher education in Vietnam.
