On August 14, 2024, the Faculty of Accounting at Ton Duc Thang University had the honor of welcoming Professor Tam Nguyen from the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom, for an insightful academic session titled "From Idea to International Publication." This event provided a unique opportunity for faculty members and students to gain valuable insights from an internationally renowned expert in accounting and finance.

Professor Tam Nguyen, who also serves as an Associate Editor for prestigious journals such as the Journal of Applied Accounting Research (Scopus Q1), shared in-depth knowledge on the journey from conceptualizing a research idea to successfully publishing in peer-reviewed international journals. The session covered critical aspects of the publication process, including overcoming common barriers, navigating the peer-review system, and crafting a compelling manuscript.

Key topics discussed during the session included the essential steps in the publication process: identifying suitable research topics, conducting comprehensive literature reviews, gathering and analyzing data, and responding to reviewer feedback. Professor Tam emphasized the importance of selecting the right journals and fostering research collaborations at various levels—from departmental, national, to international partnerships—to enhance the chances of publication.

A significant highlight of the lecture was Professor Tam's analysis of current research trends, such as climate change, green energy, and artificial intelligence—topics that are gaining traction in top-tier journals. He also provided practical advice on writing strategies to increase the likelihood of acceptance, including targeting special issues of journals and presenting research at reputable conferences to garner constructive feedback before submission.

This academic session has equipped the faculty members of the Accounting Department at Ton Duc Thang University with valuable experience in writing and publishing international research papers.
