Researching positions

TDTU Faculty of Accounting (AAF) is looking for academics with PhD degree and a research interest in the following areas: Financial Accounting, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Environmental and Social Reporting, Behavioral Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Corporate Governance, Auditing and Assurance, Taxation Policies, Accounting Information System, Accounting Information and Decision Sciences, and other relating disciplines.

Candidates may apply for a full time position (12 months or more) or concurrent position (part time) with following information:

1. RESEARCHING ONLY POSITION

Researching-only positions are available to all qualified candidates regardless of his/her nationality.

Job Description

  • The primary tasks are to conduct research (including publication in WoS/Scopus indexed journals). Researchers are encouraged to join TDTU existing research teams or to establish a new one. A list of research teams funded by the university can be found here.
  • Other tasks, including but not limited to, industrial connection in seeking for external projects and funding; organizing and supporting conferences; referring and introducing scholars and experts to work for TDTU;
  • Teaching is encouraged (with additional payment);
  • Some minor tasks to a limited extent, based on mutual agreement of both parties.

Salaries and Benefits

  • For full-time positions: income depends on the annual registered-research outcomes and research-track record of a researcher. Rank and salary are open to negotiation.
  • For part-time positions: funding is granted based on published outcomes. In addition, research funding can be obtained from TDTU Research Foundation (FOSTECT).
2. RESEARCHING-AND-TEACHING POSITION

Researching & Teaching positions are available to Overseas Vietnamese or foreigners and on a long-term basis (at least 12 months).

Job Description:

Lecturing: scholars and experts are expected to teach at least 02 subjects for undergraduate and/or graduate courses. Required teaching duties are as follows, in which one hour equals 60 minutes:

  • Lecturer: 12 hours/week;
  • Assistant/Associate Professor: 09 hours/week;
  • Professor: 06 hours/week.

Researching: expected publication outcomes are as follows:

  • Lecturer: at least 01 paper/year in peer-reviewed journals (English only) published by prestigious publishers and/or institutions;
  • Assistant Professor: 01 main-author paper/year in journals indexed by Scopus;
  • Associate Professor/Professor: one main-author paper/year in high-impact journals indexed by WoS (Clarivate). Monetary award will be given to articles exceed the contracted quota.

Services:

  • Services which are entitled to additional income or deduction of teaching duty in include: participation in managerial positions (i.e. Head of Department/Dean of Faculty, etc.) (if any).
  • Services which are not entitled to additional compensation include: curriculum and syllabus planning/designing/revising, slides and teaching materials preparation; internship arrangement, student employment support, recruitment of international students for the department/faculty; industrial connection to seek projects and fund; student affairs, international affairs, organizing or supporting conferences; searching for scholarships for lecturers and students, establishing new research group, finding and introducing scholars and experts to work for the faculty/the University, etc.

Every year, scholars and experts are evaluated by students, faculty and the university boards as a basis for increasing income and renewal of contract. Experts are also evaluated based on his/her contribution and the effectiveness of performance outcome.

Salaries and Benefits

For scholars and experts working under long-term contract (12 months or more):

  • Income: competitive and negotiable. After one year, monthly salary can increase up to 20% depending on the individual performance evaluation and contributions to the University;
  • Health insurance;
  • Fully-furnished personal office;
  • Other benefits offered by the University depending on his/her contribution and their performance evaluation:
    • On campus accommodation (or rented out with sponsored fees);
    • Airport pick-up and drop-off;
    • Round-trip airplane ticket: once a year.

For scholars and experts working under short-term contracts or visiting scholars (intermittent 12 months at campus):

  • A working plan associated with a specific faculty/institute/research group should be approved in advance by the University. Contracted duties may include, but not limited to giving lectures, co-organizing conferences, research cooperation, publishing WoS/Scopus articles, graduate theses supervision, etc.
  • Living expense: up to 500,000 VND/day/person;
  • Guest-house room on campus and personal office space;
  • Airport pick-up and drop-off;
  • If requested, the university could assign staff in available time to help the scholars /experts understand more about the country and its people (once every 02 months).
  • Other income and allowances are negotiated based on the declared outcomes of the proposed working plan. 
3. APPLICATION DOSSIER
  • 01 Cover letter with statement of personal teaching/research philosophy.
  • 01 Resumé with up-to-date educational background, prior professional  experiences and academic activities.
  • Records of prior research publications. It is noted that only applications with good research-track records are considered; the following references should be taken into account:
    • Full-time candidates: having published at least 02 main author, WoS indexed journal articles, or, at least 04 main author, Scopus indexed journal articles.
    • Part-time positions: having published at least 01 main author, WoS indexed journal article, or, at least 02 main author, Scopus indexed journal articles.
  • 01 copy of the PhD degree in related fields with full transcript.
  • Copies of professional certificates:  ACA, ACCA, CPA Australia, CPA Canada, CFA, CMA, CIA (if any);
  • 02 Recommendation letters from reputable referrers (professor/ former employer/professional colleague/peer researcher/scholar) with email addresses, postal addresses and phone numbers;
  • Academic Promotion letter (if any);
  • Sample syllabi of previous teaching courses (if any).
4. APPOINTMENT OF PROFESSIONAL TITLES AT TDTU

To applicants for full-time position (consecutive 12 months or more): after the initial contract is fulfilled and renewed, the employee is eligible to register for professorial titles at TDTU (assistant professor/associate professor/full professor, or, assistant research professor/associate research professor/full research professor/distinguished professor).
